Q. What does it cost?

Even though it is the best laser dermatology treatment available, it is remarkably affordable especially compared to other reconstructive procedures. Dr. Scheibner feels very strongly about keeping the services affordable to anyone who is suffering from a disfiguring skin condition.

Because each case is unique, a consultation is required. For those living at a distance from the centre, please send a letter / email with detailed photos and a contact phone number so we can call you.

There is a fee for the initial consultation, please call for your appointment.

Q. Is Laser dermatology safe?

Because the Scheibner Centre uses a delicate approach the tissue is not destroyed hence traditional laser complications such as infection are rarely seen unless the healing skin is accidentally (or purposefully) removed before healing is completed.

As with all procedures, there is an element of risk, and like any medical procedure there are no guarantees.

Q. Does it hurt?

Breakthrough techniques and very low energy levels mean minimal discomfort. In some cases, no anaesthesia is required.

For the sensitive, pain medication or local anaesthetics are used to numb the areas being treated. In extensive facial work the healing period can be uncomfortable due to tightness and swelling for the first few days, however there should be no pain.

Q. Is a referral necessary?

No, you simply need to contact our office to make an appointment with a doctor for your initial consultation. This usually takes about thirty minutes. The doctor will discuss your particular condition, recommend and describe the treatment process in detail, and answer all your questions. You will also receive a quote for the treatment which you may schedule at your convenience.

Q. Do you guarantee results?

No. Like ANY medical procedure there is always an element of risk involved. There is always someone who responds better and someone who responds very slowly, and its impossible to predict. We can show you lots of the same type of treatment that showed excellent results, but if you are the type who would be absolutely devastated if something went wrong, we do not recommend you do this procedure. We have undergone these treatments ourselves and we trust in them.

Q. Will the effects be long lasting?

Yes. Once your skin has been stimulated to restructure, that new structure will last. For example if your skin reverts to the way it looked ten years ago, it should take another ten years for it to wear out again.

In fact by reversing the sun damage the acceleration of ageing should stop or at least slow down.

Q. How long is the acute healing time?

It varies, usually around seven to ten days. You may have some swelling in the treated area during the first few days and the skin is likely to feel tight much as a sunburn. The after effects of the treatment vary from person to person.

For several more weeks the skin may be pinker than usual and may be more sensitive to touch. The pinkness is actually a sign the body is rejuvenating the treated area and is therefore a desired effect.

For those having extensive facial work, most clients plan on taking the first week and a half after treatment for rest and a retreat. It is recommended to avoid stressful situations and it is important to avoid direct sunlight for two weeks.

Our centre reviews and attends to you through the immediate healing process. We recommend a series of aftercare products (such as vitamins, sprays, moisturisers) to help quicken the healing process.

Q. I live in the United States, is there anyone here who treats using these methods that you can recommend?

For the time being, we no longer maintain a surgery in Los Angeles, and we use such a specialized laser treatment method and device that literally no one else in the world is doing this low level laser stimulation. We get asked for referrals frequently, we suggest coming here to Australia if you can. If you are interested we hope to have International clinics again in the future. Just drop us an email and ask to get in the "International Requests" file, ask for our free colour brochure as well.
